Are You A Bad Mom?

Are You A Bad Mom?

If you’re like me you ask yourself if you’re a bad mom daily? It might come across as a different question but chances are we are all wondering it. Am I feeding my child the right food? Am I causing co-dependency by co-sleeping? Am I a bad mom for allowing my child to finish her tantrum before I work towards solving her need? Am I a bad mom for letting my child watch TV? Am I a bad mom for letting my child stay up late?

Let me tell you what I tell myself. You are not a bad mom. Motherhood will look different for each of us. Chances are me being a good mom will not look like you being a good mom. Our children are different so our parenting has to be as well. We are all good moms doing our very best for our children. I can’t judge myself by what you do and have and you can’t judge you by me and mine. What can we do?

We can support each other through our good and bad decisions. We can laugh and cry and scream and whisper as members of a very special sorority called Mom. Not only is that how I attempt to live my life but it’s the message I took from the movie Bad Moms.

I was blessed to be able to attend an advanced screening with some of my fellow moms a few weeks ago and let me tell you the movie is AWESOME. In fact the whole night was awesome. Not only did we get to see the movie but we got to attend a Bad Mom’s Night Out Cocktail Party after.

This is the type of movie that you want to see with other moms. You will want to have someone to turn to mid-movie and say, “yup, that’s me.” Or even better you want to have someone to turn to mid-movie and say, “yup, that’s you.”

You already know that I don’t like to give away too much in my movie reviews because I want you to go and see the film without having it ruined. I will just say that I did a whole bunch of laughing in this movie. I’m talking about full laughter with bellyaches and tears.

It was interesting to see Kristen Bell in her role as I had just finished a House of Lies binge session. Her character here is very different than who she plays on the show. Mila Kunis, Katherine Hahn and Christina Applegate were so good in each of their roles. The only role that I didn’t quite get was that of Jada Pinkett-Smith. I love her normally. I even think she did as much as she could with her character but I feel overall her character had the least definition. Jay Hernandez? Yum, I mean excellent job!

Have you seen Bad Moms yet? What did you think? Let’s talk specifics in the comments 🙂
