#BronxEats: Boston Market Takeover!

#BronxEats: Boston Market Takeover!

Mom confession:  I don’t like to cook.  Now don’t get me wrong, sometimes the mood strikes and this mama gets the itch to spend the day in the kitchen creating scrumptious meals but that mood is far and few between.  Still, I don’t like fast food.  So meal time can be a point of stress for me.  I’m always looking for some type of “cheat.”  I’m always looking for something that won’t take me too long to make or something I can buy that won’t make me feel like I’m feeding JustaBXgirl food-like products.  You don’t know how happy I was when I started seeing Boston Market Restaurants popping up in different sections of the Bronx.

And I was even happier to be invited to check out the brand new Hunts Point Boston Market.  I’ve long loved Boston Market and would even venture down to Chelsea at times just to get some meatloaf and creamed spinach.  Now, I don’t have to go that far.  I don’t even have to leave the Bronx.  This makes me ecstatic.  It also means I will be doing a lot less cooking this summer (as if I needed an excuse).

The new location just opened on Monday, May 15th at 925 Hunts Point Ave.  The community already seems to be responding with enthusiasm.  While I was visiting the line didn’t stop.  The entire staff served with a smile.  Jamilah was my cashier and she had the biggest, prettiest smile.  And she was so patient with me (even when I had an issue with my card – how embarrassing).  The manager was right in the trenches with the rest of the workers helping out making sure that meals were served right and customers didn’t have to wait.  I’m not the only one the staff impressed.  A woman in line ahead of me mentioned to the manager that she works in a school nearby and would be telling her co-workers that they have to stop by for lunch.

I mean why wouldn’t they?  The menu is both nutritious and delicious and it’s affordable.  If you were to go to a traditional fast food restaurant you would spend around the same and you would leave filling a lot less full.  At Boston Market Restaurants always leave me satisfied.  The food leaves me feeling like i just had a home cooked meal.

Looks, smells and tastes like home cooked food

If you’re familiar with the Hunts Point area of the Bronx then you know the area is changing.  Many small businesses have closed down and others have popped up.  More chains are moving into the area and new residential buildings are popping up.  The area is being cleaned up and now with the help of Boston Market so are the food choices.  I was really impressed to hear that this location is committed to those that have been part of the community and not just those that might be moving in.  They listened to what community members have said about wanting to feel safe where they choose to eat.  The location is committed to keeping all customers welcomed and safe.  They’re also very near public transportation which makes it very easy to pick up dinner on your way home.

I wanted to get you guys a photo of the seating but I couldn’t get an angle without people in it & didn’t want to be the weird person taking pictures of other people’s food!  You’ll just have to check it out yourself!

P.S. Did I mention I joined the Boston Market VIP club???  Yup, I’ll be getting $3 off my next $10 purchase.  In case you didn’t know, saving money makes me happy.
