Behind The Scenes: Marvel On Tour

I was invited to this event as press. All opinions are honest and solely mine

Marvel Universe Live is coming to the Barclays Center in a few weeks and I am so excited that we will be attending.  JustaBXgirl has learned about Marvel Superheroes because her godfather and godbrother LOVE them.  Over the summer when we went to Disneyland we checked out the Summer of Heroes show and now that they will be in Brooklyn we will be checking out what some of our favorite heroes are up to these days.

Today, after dropping JustaBXgirl off to school this mama was able to get a behind the scenes look into some of the magic that makes the show possible.  I met with casting directors, part of the fire team, wardrobe and even got some info on how makeup is done for the show.  Of course, I’m here to share what I found out with you.

First off, I have always loved Feld Entertainment.  I bet you do too and don’t even realize it.  Feld is responsible for many of the live action shows you take your littles to see and that your parents probably took you to see as a child!  They are also the powers that be behind Marvel Universe Live and because this is what they do you don’t have to wonder if it will be a quality performance.  They bring together talented performers and staff that create magic on and off the stage.

This team has become a family. Many working together on different shows before coming together to bring us Marvel Universe Live.  In this epic adventure, Spider-Man, the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy join forces with Doctor Strange, master of the mystic arts, in a race against time to recover the Wand of Watoomb before it falls into Loki’s hands. This all-new show unites some of Marvel’s greatest Super Heroes including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Black Panther, Hulk and Black Widow against some of the most threatening villains.  Fans of all ages will be immersed in the Marvel Universe and experience it all with their family…LIVE! source  You will be easily transported into the Marvel Universe when you get a look at the costumes.  There are over 200 costumes used for the show including some original characters. One of the other things that completely amazed me is that each performer does their own makeup!

The sense of community was strong as a small group of us traveled between departments learning more about what it takes to put on the show.  In fact, creating a sense of community is really important to the executives on the show.  They want anyone involved with the production to truly be a part of their community.  Feld Entertainment is a family business and that foundation rings true throughout the company.  The team putting on the show considers themselves to be much more than co-workers.  They are an extended family and they are welcoming our families to be part of the Marvel Universe they are bringing to life.

During the show, we are privy to seeing the largest fire act currently on tour. Fifteen performers take the stage with various weapons aflame.  They don fireproof suits and mesmerize the audience.  And it is all done with REAL FIRE.  I got to see some of the costumes and try out some of the weapons sans flame and let me tell you, it is not easy to manipulate.  The performers have their hands full quite literally.  They are also very educated and safe having gone through two months of fire safety training before being allowed on stage!

I was in awe of the awesomeness of these performers and I cannot wait to see them on stage at the Barclay’s Center in a few weeks.  If you follow me on social media you might have noticed the influx of my Marvel Tweets.  What can I say? I’m a proud Brand Ambassador.  If you want to join the team and try to win tickets for your family when Marvel Universe Live comes to your town sign up here.
