Day Trip: Tilly’s Tea With Alice

Day Trip: Tilly’s Tea With Alice

We were invited to attend as media. As always all opinions are honest and my own.

I’m late…I’m late, for a very important date…That is what was going through my head as we headed north of the Bronx to spend the afternoon at Tilly Foster Farm in Brewster, NY for Tea With Alice. We don’t do a lot north of the Bronx so this was an adventure. And it was an adventure we got to share with JustaBXgrandpa and one of my nephews.

We attended the opening day festivities but don’t worry you still have a few more weekends of being able to enjoy Tea With Alice. Of course, the day we went it was a little cloudy with wind and a chance of rain. That didn’t stop my City little from running free.

We arrived and my littles got right into the swing of things. They quickly made some friends and began playing giant chess. JustaBXgirl quickly connected it to wizard’s chess from Harry Potter. You all remember in the first book/movie when they had to play the life-size game to get to the Sorcerer’s Stone? That’s what this made her think about.

Confession: We were so excited to arrive we did the activities backward! But then we did everything the way it was planned. Then we did a little bit of the middle stuff on its own! That was part of the fun in entering Tilly’s version of Wonderland. There really was no way things had to be done.

We met the Queen of Hearts and spoiler, she was so very sweet. She even abdicated her throne for JustaBXgirl! My child was very much more “off with their heads” than the beautiful queen!

We got to put Humpty Dumpty back together, cheese it up with the Chesire cat, play croquet with Alice and the White Rabbit, and slide down the rabbit hole (they did this, not me). I was chilling taking selfies with the “very late” Rabbit.

Once they got tired and dirty. My nephew had grass stains all over himself from rolling around in the grass. Yup, while we are blessed to live in an area of the Bronx that has a huge park nearby my littles don’t always get time to frolic. That’s what this was. Lots of time to run free and feel as if they were in their own version of Wonderland.

Once they ran out of all of their energy (and JustaBXgirl got knocked with a croquet mallet) they were given the opportunity to decorate cookies! Yup, they left on cookies and frosting high and stayed awake the whole way home.

If you’re looking for something fun to do for a few hours outside of the City this is something to check out. I really enjoyed that since everything is in one field I could find a space in the middle and let my two run free even in opposite directions since I could watch them both.

And currently you can save money on tickets by using the promo code NOMORERAIN but don’t wait too long because Tilly’s Tea With Alice only runs through June 10th!
