Dinosaur Days Of Summer

Dinosaur Days Of Summer

We were invited to attend these events as media. As always all opinions are honest and my own. This post contains affiliate links.

We have done a lot this summer while at the same time it has often felt like we are not doing enough! If I had to pick a theme for the summer, I think it would have to be DINOSAURS. Now, it wasn’t planned. In fact, JustaBXgirl used to be much more into dinosaurs than she is now but even with her passion lying elsewhere she still enjoys dinosaur experiences. And this summer there has been no shortage of them!

T.Rex at AMNH – We spent the evening on the last day of school at the American Museum of Natural History hanging out at the R.Rex exhibit. It wasn’t our first time checking the exhibit out and it won’t be our last. If you haven’t gotten there yet, don’t worry, you still have time. The exhibit will be at the museum until August 2020. JustaBXgirl loves spending time with the shadow dino when we enter the exhibit. I love that as we learn more about how dinosaurs truly looked and acted, the museum uses that in the exhibit. Older kids (and adults)can feel like they are journeying back in time with a VR experience and come face to face with the T.Rex. Younger littles can still have an interactive experience that is a little less intimidating.

Jack Horner’s Dino Dig at Liberty Science Center – It was our second or third time visiting the dino dig at Liberty Science Center and this time we got to share it with one of our Dino loving friends, Rebel Girl, of the Cruz Critters. This fun is seasonal though, so if you haven’t been, make sure to check it out before Sept 2nd when the exhibit closes.  Liberty Science Center is one of a great summer escape. It has great air conditioning and littles learn while having so much fun!

Field Station: Dinosaurs – We had our first visit here on a really HOT day of the summer and still had a great time. Since we have seen so many episodes of Dinosaur Train during JustaBXgirl’s dino stage, I figured us a few dino experts…until we visited this park! I personally learned so much so quickly. Did you know that there have been no dinosaur fossils found in New York? JustaBXgirl was super excited to be labeled a Super Paleontologist by collecting stamps for completing quests. We aren’t the only ones that enjoyed the outing. The Cruz Critters checked the park out the week after us and had at least as much fun! Check out their recap.

bronx zoo

Bronx Zoo Dinosaur Safari – As you know, the Bronx Zoo is one of our FAVORITE places regardless of the season. When JustaBXgirl was a baby one of our favorite things to do was check out the Dinosaur Safari at the zoo. By the time she was really into dinosaurs, the safari was gone. I was super excited when it was announced that they would be bringing it back. We’ve only gotten to take the safari once this season but look forward to visiting it again soon

Dinosaurs The Myth-Busting Guide To Pre-Historic Beasts – And sometimes we stay home! It doesn’t happen often but when we do, I need to make sure to keep JustaBXgirl busy. We both are learning so much from the book. Maybe we really can be super paleontologists one day. I’m excited to add this to our library because it truly helps to wrap up our Dinosaur summer. It is a great partner to all of the places we “studied” dinos this season. It reinforces what we have learned and teaches us more. I really enjoy how it challenges what we once thought and proves why certain myths need to be put to rest.
