We made it through a very weird school year and are now into summer. This summer is very different from previous ones where we were able to be out and about visiting museums, theme parks and a number of other outdoor adventures. That means that the sneaky learning I get JustaBXgirl to do has to be a bit more sneaky this year. I ammended the title of this month’s post to be Toy Schooling rather than game schooling because most of these the littles can do independently.

Magformers – This is one of those toys that transcends age. You put these in front of a person and they just have to touch and play. I love that JustaBXgirl is at an age where she can be completely independent with her building and yet, still want to include me in the fun, even if it is only to pass her the next piece. There is so much learning to happen in a Magformers set. From the building to discussing how they actually work. You can also use them for sorting, shapes, colors, and discussing community helpers if you use the police and rescue sets!

Coloring HandMoto – JustaBXgirl enjoys the simplicity of this. No charge needed. Simply pull it out and have fun again and again. It comes with enough to keep littles busy for a bit, one Moto Board, one eraser, four dry erase pens, and ten images. I adore that it is self-contained so can also be used on the go. It is great for cars and when we get back to planes, I think it will be great there too. JustaBXgirl says its like a dry erase desk and is great for school!

Cool Maker Pottery Studio – This was a great addition to our home because the lessons learned went beyond how to use the machine. While creating her pottery project, JustaBXgirl had to figure out how much water to use, which speed to crank the studio up to, and how much patience she needed to get everything right! And of course, she had to read directions. She did need some help, which I didn’t mind because it gave us some time together (until she told me she didn’t need me any longer). My little artist was excited to add pottery to her skill set.

Birdie Golf – When we visited family recently, we took full advantage of having a backyard! Birdie Golf was at the top of JustaBXgirl’s list for getting outside. I love that it was something she could play with her teenaged cousins while working on math skills. Keeping score and planning trajectory of shots is math my people! And they kept making up their own rules which kept me entertained.
