Curly Hair Love – Our 3 Most Used Products

Curly Hair Love – Our 3 Most Used Products

We received some of these products for review purposes. As always, all opinions are honest and my own. This post contains affiliate links,

There is so much power in hair. There is also lots of pain and ignorance. Growing up, I didn’t appreciate or really understand the beauty and magic that lies within my tresses. If I’m a hundred percent honest, I’m still learning everyday about the magic that grows and forms my crown. I love that my child is living through a point in history that exalts Curly Sues instead of making us feel as if our unruly hair is unfortunate.

The fun thing about learning about my locks as an adult is that I get to learn alongside my baby girl. We both have different types of curls so some of the items that I love for my hair, I don’t love as much for her hair. And some that I love for her hair that don’t feel as good as my hair. The best is when I find products that work for both of our hair types! Those are the products that I want to share with you today.

The three most used products at home right now should get true MVP awards because they hold us down daily. We don’t do most of the things that most hair blogs and Youtube videos will tell you to do at night so when we wake up in the morning after a night of flattening and fluffing during sleep our hair needs lots of help. and these are the items that we run to:

Mielle Rice Water Collection Moisturizing Milk – Honestly, I need to give a shout out to this entire collection because it is all amazing. I just didn’t want to overwhelm all of you with a whole shopping list of items. If you saw my Instagram Reel on dying my hair then you know this product was used after I finished. I love how my curls feel and look since I’ve started using this. And don’t let me get started on how good it smells.

The Doux Big Poppa Defining Gel – Speaking of scents. This might be one of my favorites. And the hold is awesome. It allows my hair to breathe without falling victim to frizz. It also leaves my hair soft. It is gentle while being strong. Kind of like me!

Aunt Jackie’s Kids Baby Curls Moisture Rich Curling & Twisting Custard – JustaBXgirl uses this on her own. She uses it to smooth down her flyaways and bring her curls more bounce.

We use these products daily. For JustaBXgirl this is simply part of our hair care routine. For me? It’s much more meaningful. It is about sharing with my daughter that her hair (and mine) in beautiful. It is about her never doubting her hair. It is about knowing that when she chooses a hairstyle it will be because she wants it and not because she feels her hair should only look one way. Instead, she will choose her hairstyle by her moods and personality. She will also to look for products that work for her.

And she will have confidence that if something doesn’t work for her then she doesn’t have to continue using it. These weren’t the first three products we used. There was a lot of trial and error to get here. I disliked products that others raved about. Some worked great on my hair and not so great on JustaBXgirl’s. Some didn’t work for either of us. A lesson that I had to learn was that it is okay not to continue using a product that I don’t like.

The thing is, I don’t like wasting money. If I get something I try to use it until there is no more. That method doesn’t work on hair products. I had to learn to be okay with tossing shampoos, gels and leave-in conditioners that didn’t work for us. I had to figure out what products did our hair types really need because I was not about to be here using a hundred products for a natural look.

Slow and steady we are both learning. If you’re new to this journey, you are not alone. I am here with you. (I really hope that you sang that last line). If you’re a master at this curly hair, natural thing then please leave advice.
