November 2021 Watchlist

We received some of these titles for review purposes. As always, all opinions are honest and my own.

When putting this list together I was looking at the titles of what we watched this month and realized that while we watch movies that cross genres, many of the movies we watch have similar themes. The themes are what are at the heart of our family’s foundation. Family, friendship, trust. Have you watched any of these? Does your family pick similarly themed movies even when they cross genres?

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings – You knew this would make the list. I mean, it’s a Marvel movie! I loved so many things about this film. The fight scenes were fabulous. From a public bus to the side of a skyscraper to the ancient village of Ta Lo. Seriously, the combat choreography needs to win all types of awards. The storyline itself is really strong as well. Friendship and family are at the heart of the story as Shang-Chi returns to face a life he thought he left behind. Katy stole the movie for me and JustaBXgirl.

Flubber – Yup, that Flubber. It might have come out in 1997 but JustaBXgirl watched it for the first time this month. When we go to EPCOT, she sees references to the movie so we figured it was time for her to learn where the references came from. Suffice to say, she loved the little green guy. Weebo was her favorite character in the movie. How does this movie fit the family theme? Well, Weebo was part of Dr. Brainard’s family. She loved him and he loved her (even if she was a machine).

Sesame Street: Wonderful World of Friends – It’s Sesame Street. Do I need to say more? Sesame Street brings us two hours of appreciating cultures as Elmo, Big Bird, Rosita, and their friends learn about music, food, and more from around the world.

Extinct – Op and Ed are two Flummels that find themselves transported through time. They have quite the adventure trying to get back home. There are a few pleasant and unpleasant surprises in store for these siblings. They do get to team up with The Extinctables, a group of extinct animals that were saved by Dr. Chung. JustaBXgirl said it was her favorite of the movies we checked out this month.
