November Book Shelf: Books To Give & Ask For!

November Book Shelf: Books To Give & Ask For!

Books make great gifts. Last year, I did a 25 Books of Christmas for JustaBXgirl. We added some titles to our collection that we still read and she decided that some should would pay forward and give to friends and her school. If you’re looking for some fun books to give people on your list look no further.

Here are some of the ones we’ve recently added to our shelf or I will be giving JustaBXgirl for Christmas this year:

reindeer in here, elf on the shelf alternative, christmas tradition

Reindeer In Here – Now, I’ve never been a fan of Elf on the Shelf. Maybe I’m just lazy and don’t want to think of a place to put the elf daily but I just haven’t been able to get behind it. This year though I jumped on the Reindeer In Here bandwagon. Maybe it is because the reindeer is so darn cute but whatever the reason we have happily welcomed him into our home. I think I like it because the reindeer isn’t sent to keep the kid in line but to get to know your little so that Santa can get a better idea of who you’re little really is. Our reindeer is named Jingles and JustaBXgirl is already having anxiety around the fact that Jingles has to go back to the north pole in a month!

Tails From Nature: Squirrel – Board books are great gifts for baby and new readers. We do a lot of chapter book reading because we have a long commute to school but now that JustaBXgirl has started reading herself I find the need to get back to basics. She also loves nature and learning about different animals so this is a great choice for her.

Wonkey Donkey – So I need to be honest here. If you’ve seen the video of the grandma reading to her grandbaby you will probably love it because you see how much joy it can bring. If you read it with an innocent mindset you will simply enjoy all of the silliness. BUT if you read some of the online reviews you might feel bad about enjoying the book! I share this to say that while I would keep this in our home library and enjoy the hilarity that can ensue from reading I would not necessarily gift this to another family because I’m not sure how they would react.

we hope you remember

Kabook Books – This company makes personalized books turning your photos into book illustrations. It is the most wonderful thing. It makes a perfect gifting choice year round. JustaBXgirl has two, Wanted and I Hope You Remember. Oh, and our friends at Kabook were sweet enough to offer our readers a coupon code!!! Use code JUSTABXMOM for 20% off from now until December 31st. I think I will be using it to get a few of the new titles just released!

Oliver The Ornament – Every year I get a photo ornament to add to the tree. This book that comes with an Oliver The Ornament is a great way to begin your decorating traditions. The story is very sweet and will make you truly think about valuing the not so perfect things in life. I also enjoy that this is the first book in a series of seven. Oh, and, a portion of all proceeds from the sale of each book will be donated to various children’s charities, nationwide.

The Enchanted Sonata – The Nutcracker is such an important part of the holiday season. I am always here for seeing it re-imagined. The fact that this version was written by a Disney Illustrator made me even more excited since I figure it would be interesting to see how someone that is responsible for visually bringing magic to life would do so with words.

The Glimmers Save Christmas – When Christmas is in jeopardy and there is only one elf that can help it is a very good thing he has two Glimmers in his corner! The illustrations are so very fun in this adventure.

Gods And Heros: Mythology Around The World – This is such a great compilation of Gods and Heroes. It includes over seventy characters from twenty-three cultures. I’m looking forward to sharing this one with JustaBXgirl.

Ali On Ali – If you have an Ali fan in your life then this will be a fantastic gift for them. This book includes seventy quotes including photos.

Gus’ Fortunate Misfortune – This is a sweet story that helps littles think of how to look at bad days as a opportunities to choose. You can look for solutions rather than wallow.
