It was a cold and rainy afternoon but we were not ready to let go of the holidays without FINALLY making it to the New York Botanical Gardens Holiday Train Show. My godson loves trains. This young man can get you around the entire MTA system without ever getting lost and he is only nine.
Every year his mother and I say we’re going to do the train show and every year we allow life to happen. This year was the 25th anniversary so we knew we had to get there. Life tried to get in the way by making it really, really, really cold and very, very, very wet the day we had our tickets. Didn’t stop these mamas and I’m really happy we made it. While most would look at the weather as a con of the day I think it worked in our favor because we didn’t have to share the show with a large crowd.
JustaBXgirl thinks trains are cool but she could take them or leave them. For her the beauty was in the crafted homes and buildings. We were on a hunt for fairies because the 150 landmarks were all made out of leaves, bark and other natural resources looking like they could have been built by Tinkerbell and other builder fairies.
My godson was thrilled. If you have a train lover you CANNOT miss this. There is nearly half a mile of train track laid throughout the exhibit with over a dozen trains zigzagging over bridges and whizzing past landmarks.
This exhibit was just gorgeous. I mean, words can’t even begin to describe how magical the experience is so I will just give you a peek into the magic via some of the photos we took. Both my best friend and I took over a hundred photos each. Nope, I’m not sharing them all but here’s a few of my favorites!
Oh, and don’t worry you still have a few days left to catch the show yourself. It will be at the New York Botanical Gardens until Monday, January 16th.
