Back to school time can mean stress for not only us but our littles as well. That’s why we planned our August #JustAPlayDate to be a day of indulgence. We decided that our little blogger buddies deserved to be treated to #JustAPamperParty. And our sponsors felt the same way because they treated us so well.
Many times our girls are taught that they have to make sure that everyone around them is good before they take care of themselves. Even if this lesson isn’t screamed it is internalized by being demonstrated by the women in their lives. Most of us moms will admit to being guilty of this more often than we would like. Self-care is such an important part of life it was wonderful to be able to introduce these little princesses to ways they can indulge in taking care of themselves while spending time with their buddies.
First, you pick a place that makes you smile. Stephanie at Hello Princess NYC always laughs when I tell her that her venue is my happy place. It is. Hello Princess NYC and Disney are two places that make me smile regardless of my mood. That being said, when Stephanie offered to open the doors of Hello Princess NYC for our August playdate I might have done a little happy dance.
Second, you make sure you got some good eats. Listen, I’m a foodie. Ask anyone that knows me this mama likes to eat. And pizza is one of my favorite foods. I also have never met a princess that did not like pizza. This made partnering with Domino’s Pizza for the party a no-brainer. We were able to feed fifteen littles (including one teenage boy), and all of the parents pizza, cheesy bread and, drinks for less than $100! Oh, and we had food to take home so this mama was able to do a little self-care by skipping cooking dinner. And did you know? Domino’s has many ways to order and now, you can even receive deliveries at locations like parks, sports fields and other places without a traditional address by using Domino’s Hotspots.
Third, you add in some natural products. It is important to teach our littles to care about the products they use on their bodies. For this event, we partnered with Piggy Paint and SheaMoisture. Both brands we use regularly at home so this was another easy choice. If we teach our princesses from start to be aware of what they put on their bodies they will always look for the best in products. JustaBXgirl is only allowed to wear nail polish on her hands for special occasions because she still has a tendency of putting her fingers in her mouth and I don’t want her swallowing nail polish. When she is allowed to have her nails painted it is almost always with Piggy Paint because I trust the brand. As I’ve shared with some of you, I’m new to this hair care thing. I lived with wash and sets for most of my life and now that I’m trying to embrace natural hair everyone has referred me to SheaMoisture. I love that SheaMoisture also has products for skin care as well. Each princess received a hand scrub with SheaMoisture Coconut and Hibiscus Hand & Body Scrub before having her Piggy Paint manicure in LOL.
Finally, you add some creative outlets. Our princesses had a dance party rocking with a Kidz Bop station on Pandora and did some arts and crafts. We had a Paint-Sation setup, as well as a Spray Art which was the hit of the party both from Goliath Games! Our little artists created masterpieces like a lollipop garden and self-portraits on the Paint-Sation and decorated their gift bags using the Spray Art. Oh, and did I mention they got to do this all while in princess garb thanks to many costumes at their disposal thanks to Hello Princess NYC?
To top it off the self-care didn’t end when the party did. Each princess took home a gift bag full of SheaMoisture products (for princess and mom), their own bottle of LOL Piggy Paint to touch up their manicures, and a Just My Style All About Nail Art set to take home and get creative with. JustaBXgirl promised she would do my nails with her set.
And now want to indulge one of you. We will be sending one of our readers their own Just My Style All About Nail Art set and SheaMoisture Coconut and Hibiscus Hand & Body Scrub.
Did you do anything to get your littles relaxed before school started? How about self-care? When was the last time you indulged?
