What To Watch: Disney+ Marvel Hero Project Episodes 1-3

disney+

So, you know how excited I am about Disney+ right? I mean, I get it. We all had to question if we needed ANOTHER streaming service but when it comes to Disney, the answer is YES! I pre-purchased our membership for three years back when there was a D23 Members special. Calm down, I’m a general member and do not pay membership but I love being in the know about all things Disney even if I can’t get to everything. Disney+ is going to be a way for me to regularly sprinkle myself with pixie dust between visits to the parks.

If you’re anything like me then you put serious thought into if you would be purchasing a membership. It will finally be released next week. You weighed the cost verse what you current;y pau. You thought about how often you will actually watch and what will they have that you haven’t already seen. The answer is A LOT. I was blessed with a serious blogger perk. I was able to get a sneak peek and sent screeners of the first three episodes of Marvel’s Hero Project to review. Insert silent (or not so silent scream) here.

Episode 101, “Sensational Jordan” | Premieres Tuesday, November 12 on Disney+

Jordan is a cheerleader. She enjoys spending time with her friends and creating things. She is also Sensational. Jordan is a Marvel Hero as she advocates for herself and others that are members of the limb different community. My favorite part of this episode was when a younger girl spoke about how Jordan inspired her. It was yet another reminder about how #representationmatters.

Episode 102, “Incredible Elijah” | Premieres Friday, November 15 on Disney+

My little Preacher Man! Elijah is a gift to this world. At five he knew he wanted to deliver sermons. With his momma standing behind him he did just that. But becoming a minister isn’t his only calling. He has given his voice to those that are often silenced. When a friend of his shared her abuse with him, child abuse became a major concern for Elijah. He has led a march, organized and spoke for Child Abuse Awareness. He has been an activist for years in his community and thanks to the Marvel Hero Project his activism can reach the world.

Episode 103, “Unstoppable Adonis” | Premieres Friday, November 22 on Disney+

“I cannot see anything. That includes limits for  myself.” That is one of the first lines we hear Adonis say in his episode and if he didn’t command space like a superhero just from that! He is a great reminder that we are the only ones that stop ourselves from being capable. Adonis is an athlete. He comes from a family of athletes. And they are all competitive. Only difference is Adonis is also blind.

I loved learning about each of the hero’s stories but my favorite part of the episodes is watching them be acknowledged. Seeing them get their Elite Marvel Hero Jackets and view the comic book created in their honor made me emotional each and every time. I know that I will be watching this series regularly and be crying along with pride for each of these littles that are doing big things. I can’t wait to see the rest of the season, especially the episode featuring Daniella Benitez and the work she is doing with Build A Miracle.
