Sometimes you just have to stop and let your senses take over. A lot of our little ones (and many of us) are sensory seekers. The thing is, most times the world isn’t set up in ways that allow us to honor those needs. We constantly tell them don’t touch, taste, or make noise. We aren’t always aware of how they react to certain sounds or textures. Good thing that a lot of brands are now paying close and providing products to help our seekers be soothed. Here are a few of our current favorite sensory products for those that love texture.
Made by Me Explore & Create Sensory Bin – This bin has so many options. Seriously, it is perfect for texture seekers. There are water beads, slimy sand, rocks, and tools to play with them all with. You can play with this in so many different ways and it is all contained. I can’t front. It being contained is definitely one of my favorite parts. JustaBXgirl even uses it for pretend play so it can be considered true open-ended play as well.
Playfoam Sand Sensory Set – You already know we use Playfoam Sand for learning but did you know how soothing it could be just to play with it. It is super satisfying. One could say SAND-isfying! This set allows you to mold it, stamp it, cut it, and more. It also comes with three colors so visually you get options!
Express Your Feelings Sensory Bottles – You might remember when we talked about the Color Mix Sensory Tubes for helping with anxiousness. These are great for fidgeting, helping when a little (or big) is feeling anxious, and for identifying and expressing emotions.
Hoglet Fidget Mouse – Let’s be honest. Sometimes the most difficult thing to do with our sensory seekers is to get them to focus on their work. While in an ideal world we can let them get their texture on through play and soothing all day long, most of us don’t live in an ideal world. In a world where you have to get them focused, you can make the “work” feel much better with items like Hoglet by Hedgehog Health.
