There are certain brands you just cannot go wrong with. Crayola is definitely one of those. They’re the type of brand that allows you to get something for everyone on your list without having to worry. During the summer I got to attend an event of theirs where they showcased some back to school fun and highlighted some of what they would be premiering for the Holiday season. And then I got to see a few of the items being featured again at Holiday Of Play. Of course I now want to share that info with you.
I know, you’re going to say you know all about Crayola. I’m sure almost every one of my readers recently purchased Crayola crayons and colored pencils for back to school. I know I did and JustaBXgirl isn’t even in school yet. But if you think that’s all they have to offer then you’re in for a fun surprise.
I’m the gift giver that likes to make you work. My favorite type of gifts are educational and creative. Crayola has found ways to be both. I want to tell you about three gifts that will be finding their way under my tree this year.
MY FIRST CRAYOLA MESS-FREE SAND SCRIBBLER
Let me start by saying I really, really, really considered keeping this for myself. It is very relaxing. I mean other people have sand gardens on their desks why couldn’t I have a sand scribbler? I digress though. This is a really great toy. Parents will love it because it is not messy. The last thing the parent of a little child wants to be doing is cleaning up a messy toy. The sand in this toy is contained.
This is just what little hands need. It is fun for them pushing the sand around and can be a great learning tool. It helps to strengthen motor skills and hand-eye coordination. And even helps with color recognition. There’s a background light that shines in different colors when your child pushes a button.
This is a cute gift for the little that doesn’t think they’re all that little any more. It gives the future designer a starting point. Personally, I love the workstation that holds all of the pieces the set comes with. And it really does come with a lot of pieces. It allows your child to make keychains, bracelets and pretty charms to name a few. The only thing that could make this better would be if there was a replacement packs available to keep the fun going after you used the supplies it comes with.
CRAYOLA ART WITH EDGE GRAFITTI
Coloring never gets old. It doesn’t matter if you just learned how to hold a crayon or if you’re a professional artist. Coloring is calming and many adults and teenagers are learning that. I worked in youth development for a long time and the teenagers would play it too cool for things like coloring until they saw someone else doing it. Then they would want to join in and really concentrate on the task at hand. It makes me happy to see coloring becoming so popular again. Crayola has a number of books in their Art With Edge series but the Grafitti one is my favorite.
