Marvel Universe Life: Age of Heroes

We attended the show as press. As always all opinions are honest and solely mine and my family’s.

JustaBXgirl has godparents that are completely geeky.  It is really interesting to see how much knowledge they have about things that the average person has very limited knowledge.  Her godmother is a DC fan and her godfather is a Marvel man.  They each know about both universes.  Suffice to say my little is learning superheroes.

In the last year or so, JustaBXgirl has shown interest in superheroes independent of her godparents. When Marvel Universe Live announced it would be returning to Brooklyn on this tour I knew we had to go.  We even got JustaBXgrandpa and one of her cousins in on the family fun.  Let me tell you, this show was definitely worth traveling to Brooklyn alllllll the way from the Bronx. It was the first time any of us had been to the Barclay’s Center.

Of course we each had to rock a Marvel t-shirt.  JustaBXgirl wore a dress.  So many fans were decked out in really cool shirts and costumes.  It was really nice to see families getting into the spirit. We got there early and it was pretty interesting to see the stands fill up and feel the buzz of excitement.

Once the show started we were all sucked in for the entire show.  We went one week after Black Panther opened in theaters and I want to share while everyone in NYC loves their neighborhood Spider-Man, you would have thought you were in Wakanda the way the crowd cheered when Black Panther came out.

JustaBXgirl has decided that The Wasp is now in her top three favorite Marvel characters.  Actually, she took the top place.  Her favorites are now: The Wasp, Black Panther and Black Widow. My baby lit up when she saw all three take the stage.  Then Black Widow did a gymnastic move and JustaBXgirl nearly lost her mind.

It was a great moment.  She leaned over to me and said, “mommy, that’s gymnastics.” For so long my little thought that the only place to use her skills would be in the Olympics.  This was a great learning moment for her that if she sticks with her sport she could one day be one of her favorite superheroes.

I think it is so important to share new experiences with or littles because you never know what that experience will inspire them to do.  JustaBXgirl loves gymnastics but since seeing the show I’ve noticed her practicing a little more than she normally does.  It has only been a few days but still.  Plant a seed and a garden follows.

The show itself was MARVEL-OUS. Haha, you know I can be corny.  Seriously though, it was really good.  It was about two hours with a fifteen-minute intermission. and the time flew by.  These performers are so talented and I love how they weaved parts of everyone’s backstory into the show.

It was also great to see The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy meet. I am Groot!  Groot always steals the show if you ask me.  JustaBXgirl is so adorable.  When we were discussing the show after she says, “Groot must be tired having to spend the entire show on stilts.” I love how her imagination is so huge, this morning her plush unicorn head taught us snake facts, yet she is still grounded in reality.
