Baby showers should be times of joy. Sadly, many are having to skip over the fun and family time due to safety concerns and social distance guidelines this season. My youngest nephew is scheduled to at the end of the month and I’m already disappointed that I won’t be able to visit on the day of his delivery as I did with his brother. More and more we are turning to our digital devices to keep us connected.
A few years ago when my goddaughter was due in a different state I helped to organize a Virtual Baby Shower. Today there are many other options. Hmm, maybe I should write a new post on virtual baby showers. Anyway, now that virtual showers aren’t just for long distances I wanted to make sure you had some good gift options for when you attend. Let’s be honest, gifts are really important for a virtual shower since they will be physically there and you won’t!
You can NEVER ever go wrong with buying diapers, wipes, and gift cards for expecting parents. We all know this but we still want to give something else. Here are a few of the things that are on my current shopping list for expecting mamas.
I believe that if you’re not getting something that is an essential product then the next best thing is to get something that can grow with the baby and last for longer than one stage.
Whisper Organics Crib Sheets – A friend of mine, It’s Me, Lady G, put me onto this brand. You’re probably saying, didn’t I just say get gifts that grow with babies? Guess what, a good quality crib sheet can last for years and will be used all the way through pre-school. Don’t shy away from this type of gift.
KeaBabies Explorer Diaper Bag Backpack – When I had JustaBXgirl I added a cutesy baby bag to my registry and I loved it but the reality of it was that it was only so useable! That is why every time I share a diaper bag with you, I make sure that it is more than just a pretty face. This bag is so awesome that I am using it this summer when we take a trip out to spend a few weeks with family social distancing with a backyard! Yup, I might not have a baby but I have a need for pockets, durability, style, and snack holders. Pro parent tip, use the travel changing pads as a place for your child to sit on when they are wet or using a public space to sit on this summer! Oh, and did I mention that this bag is under $30!
KeaBabies Silicone Bibs – I did a cute activity at my baby shower where people decorated bibs and onesies for JustaBXgirl. I loved it and recommend it to everyone. I still have some of my favorites stored in storage. The thing is though that I threw away so many bibs because they got stained and I don’t like stained things. Silicone bibs are an excellent alternative.
Latching In Love Gift Card – Breastfeeding is HARD. Don’t let anyone lie to you. I would not have been able to breastfeed for four years if I didn’t have the Latching In Love founder as my guide. Now, all mothers can have the same guidance as I did because she offers virtual and in-person visits and consultations.
ChewBox Fruit Edition from The Evolved Parent Company – These are so beautiful and colorful and textured that while they are ideal chew toys they also are just fun toys for babies to hold and play with. They’re a great way to introduce the names of items as they come in a variety. You can get a six-pack of either fruit or animals. So while they are designed for when babies are teething think outside the box on how they can be so much more!
Baby Bottom Buddy from The Evolved Parent Company – Can I say that I’m looking forward to trying this out over the summer for sunscreen? It’s a fun idea that the bigger littles can use themselves. And when used the way it is designed it is great so that you don’t have to worry about having diaper rash ointment all over your hands while trying to put on a diaper!
