Tiny Shiny Schoolhouse Calendar Review

Tiny Shiny Schoolhouse Calendar Review

We received this product for review purposes. As always, all opinions are honest and my own.

JustaBXgirl went to a Montessori-type school before we homeschooled and while there was a lot I thought could be done better there was also a lot they did right. One of those things was having morning meetings with the students. During morning meetings, the class would discuss the weather, the day, and other things. I wanted to keep consistency when shifting to homeschool so I knew I needed to find ways to incorporate familiar activities. The calendar was one I thought would be easy. Spoiler: it was not!

Before finding and having the opportunity to review Tiny Shiny Schoolhouse‘s 2022 Year Round Calendar, we tried many, and let me tell you that they did not work for JustaBXgirl. When in-school switched to virtual school, I had gotten JustaBXgirl a perpetual calendar. You know the one where you simply change the information but there’s no year so you can use it over and over again? Well, you can only reuse it if you don’t lose the parts. I tell you that I would find the days of the week all over my house! Plus, if your little is still learning the order of the days of the week, this might not be the best version. Next, we tried one of the many free ones you get at grocery stores and pharmacies. Cute animals or scenic photos in the background just didn’t do it for JustaBXgirl. It would stay January well into September if it was up to her.

Now, I don’t have to worry about any of that. We are using the 2022 Year Round Calendar and JustaBXgirl be on it! I don’t have to remind her to scratch off a day because she does it when she gets to her desk. She loves that it reminds her of the scratch art projects she used to do with her favorite art teacher. She likes being able to see each month at the same time so she can visualize how close we are to holidays, birthdays, or just the next month. Her favorite part is scratching off holidays to see how they change.

We have the space theme which also reminds her of her old school. At her school, the classes would be named for parts of the universe. The space-themed calendar allows her to still feel connected. Plus, the child loves space. We have the magnetic teak wood hanger frame add-on that makes it so simple to display the calendar.

The quality of this calendar is fantastic. The frame seems sturdy enough to have for years. The calendar itself is durable and does not look childish so you can hang it anywhere at home and not feel like it is taking away from your decor.

JustaBXgirl is old enough to understand that she is only to scratch off one day at a time. If you have younger littles or ones that are very excited then you might want to do the daily scratching supervised, otherwise, you might be celebrating the new year a bit early!

The calendar allows you to pick a version that is printed with U.S. Holidays or one without. It also comes with 48 flag stickers so that you can add your own special days. There are also some pretty cool sticker add-ons available on the site. They’re currently having a sale so you can get your own at a discounted price. Oh, and you can use promo code MelanatedGold10 for an additional 10% off.
