5 Baby Shower Gift Ideas

I’ve been a mom for a decade now. Wow. Seems like just yesterday I was walking through the aisles of Babies R Us with my Phillie-bestie trying to figure out what I would need and want. Times have changed since then. Babies’ R Us has shut its doors. Nowadays, Babylist, Target, and Amazon are where mamas-to-be go for their registries. I miss stores. When picking Baby Shower gifts I like to stick to what they need, what they want, something for now, something for later, and something for mama. Oh, and I rarely buy a card. I prefer to get a book for the baby and write a message inside. Let’s grow those libraries. Children who grow up with books in the home tend to have much larger vocabularies than those who don’t. Anyway, here are five baby shower gifts that I am currently obsessed with!

Pre-Natal Latch Course – When a mama plans to breastfeed I love to offer this gift. There is so much noise around feeding babies that by taking this course a mom-to-be can begin her journey with an experienced lactation consultant and get the real deal about what to expect. The best thing is that there is a virtual option, so mama has options.

Diapers – Listen, disposable or washable. I have no skin in the game. I support families to make the decisions for themselves. I do know that babies need tons of diapers. And they need them in multiple sizes. I usually err from buying newborn-sized and start at size 1, but I also like to buy a bigger size because most people buy tiny sizes to take to baby showers.

Cloud B Sleep Sheep – This is a toy that will grow with the baby. It can attach to the crib and stroller when the baby is an itty bitty. As the baby grows it can become a favorite friend. Both HOPS and JustaBXgirl adore it. The sound machine that fits inside is really an added bonus. It has eight sounds to choose from including both, white noise, and soft music.

Mabel’s Labels – We love labels, and I’m sure you know how much we love Mabel’s Labels. They last. They’re beautiful. They offer so many different options. These are great gifts for families that use daycare or have multiple children. These are useful and will be useful in perpetuity!

Kids For Culture – This brand has beautiful products for babies and children. Two favorite baby shower gifts from them are their Positive Pals and On-The-Go Activity Blanket. Both are small enough that they can fit into diaper bags and can be held by the baby while on the go. They are super soft and have crinklies to keep the itty bitty little happy. Oh, and of course, the affirmation on the Positive Pals makes me smile.
