Beat The Cold With These Hot NJ Activities

Beat The Cold With These Hot NJ Activities

OK, I get it… so it wants to be “cold cold” outside. If you are anything like me, you are a sun chaser and winter is for hibernation. Unfortunately your kids don’t share your same sentiment of nestling under a pile of covers binge watching old TV shows until the first sign of spring. So, here are a few unique indoor fun spots that will hopefully hold them over until the frost melts.

Ride Ice Bumper CarsOcean Ice Palace, Brick NJ

We love ice skating and we looveee bumper cars. So duhhh, putting these two together was sure to be a win. That’s what the people at Ocean Ice Palace must have thought when they created New Jersey’s first Ice Bumper Car Experience! With DJs and Disco nights this is sure to please all. You can also book combo packages to include bumper cars and regular ice skating admission. They also host private birthday parties and events. Since this is such a popular event, it’s best to make reservations but they will allow you to pay at the door if there is room.

Visit Bat Man at the Bat CaveThe Wildlife Conservation and Education Center, Garfield NJ

In 1993 New Jersey’s periodical, “The Record”, ran a front page story on Curator Joseph D’Angeli and the life he leads as “New Jersey’s own BATMAN”.  This is the ONLY zoological facility specializing in bats and the conservation of bats in the Tri-State Area.  The new larger facility (they recently relocated from Ridgefield Park) is dedicated to the conservation of bats and ALL wildlife, and to the public education on the importance of these magnificent flying mammals. Mr. D’Angeli says, “Our wonderful family of bats have educated many THOUSANDS of people and have been born in our facility or generously donated from zoological institutions worldwide.”   Definitely check the website or call ahead of going as their hours fluctuate and they are sometimes closed for private parties and exhibitions.

Take The Outside Indoors With Sesame StreetLiberty Science Center Planetarium, Jersey City NJ

Did you know that as of December 9th, NJ now houses the largest Planetarium in the country? The top scientist responsible for it, Paul Hoffman, the president and chief executive officer of the Liberty Science Center, boasted that it was so large that the Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History in Manhattan, would fit inside with room to spare.  Right now you can explore the night sky with Big Bird, Elmo, and a friend from China named Hu Hu Zhu! In this show, you’ll learn about the Big Dipper, the North Star, the Sun and the Moon.

P.S.  Did you see my IG post on how to get free museum days with Bank of America?  Want too know how?  Just click here.
